On September 11, 2015, a crane fell at the Hajj at the Grand Mosque (The Kaaba) in Saudi Arabia killing 107 worshippers and injuring 230, less than two weeks before the annual Hajj pilgrimage. Witnesses say the crane toppled over during a “sandstorm which turned to rainstorm.” Those killed included Indonesian, Indian, Iranian and Egyptian citizens. The reaction on Twitter hasn’t been all great. A group of fundamentalists lashed out saying the accident was “karma” for Sept 11th, 2001.
